Who developed the Curriculum Organiser?
 
Robin Clarke, Executive Director of Education Research Solutions, has conducted extensive research in curriculum development.
The research and development of the Curriculum Organiser included:
  • Conducting over 200 workshops since 2002. We have investigated issues related to the translation of the system outcomes into the classroom setting; presenting possible solutions, and; evaluating responses of people at all levels of the education system, including top Department of Education personnel.
  • Critically examining the concepts underpinning the implementation of the Curriculum Improvement Program. 'Cracked the code', and identified some conceptual blocks. These issues were addressed in the development of the Curriculum Organiser in creating 10 building blocks to sound understanding.
Curriculum writers
  • A range of practical and research writers have been engaged including teachers, PhD students, and internet researchers. Their work has included the examination of Australian and international best practice.
  • Refinement will continue based on the systematic soliciting of responses from teachers.

Robin’s active involvement in the West Australian education system spans 38 years. As a Superintendent of Social Studies, he co-lead a team for two years in the previous Curriculum Branch which was involved in the development of the very successful K-10 Social Studies Syllabus. As principal of District and Senior High Schools, he led significant educational innovations including student-centred and outcomes approaches to learning. Other career highlights include: * Winner of Director General’s (WA Department of Education) Certificate of Merit; * Lecturer with the University of Western Australia in the Master of Education program. * Winner of Edith Cowan University's Lawrence McGrath Prize for postgraduate research in educational administration. * President of the WA Secondary Principals Association. Robin now leads the Education Research Solutions team. The Curriculum Organiser has been further developed over the past three years.
